Nice spacious room, in traditional Japanese style. First night we had a Japanese style breakfast, but our room attendent exlained after the first breakfast, that they offer Western breakfast too, despite the fact that we finished almost all. But in all fairness, one typical Japanese breakfast was enough for us and we did order Western for the next day.
We had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the experience a lot, I find it rather expensive and would say room rate should (considerably) be less...
Excellent location near main attractions and several restaurants. The hot bath was wonderful experience. The room was spacious and elegant.High quality service and very frienly approach.
The fabulous Kyoto style dinner was a great experience, the presentation, service, friendliness and excellent location in the heart of Gion was perfect for our weekend break. The onsen was another nice touch.
The amenity was very traditional and service exceptional. The onsen was a delight to use and above all my partner and I enjoyed the tranquillity of the accommodation.
Our room was stunning, as was the rest of the hotel. Fantastic location, the best of Gion just a stroll away. The breakfast was an absolute feast!
Beautiful, traditional, luxurious, cultural, friendly and hospitable E
Nothing, it was a truly pleasurable experience
Wonderful service. Quiet yet central location next to Yasaka shrine. Even during the Gion Festival we were able to sleep quietly. The hotel makes a laptop available in the lobby so you can check your emails. The hotel staff made reservations for restaurants and gave us advice about the area. Most of all though, our room attendant, was adorable. We hope to come back to Kyoto again and we would definitely like to stay at Hatanaka again.
We were happy with the bathroom, but some people may say it is a bit small.
Excellent location. It is a large ryokan, but yet it gives you the sense of intimacy. Great onsen.
Dinner is good but priced on the up side, when compared to the other options in the vicinities.
unbeatable location awesome onsen class
not the most comfortable futons and pillows in the world. then again, not the worst either.
One of the highest-rank ryokan (hotel in Japanese style) in Japan.Service and quality of dinner are excellent. The location is also very convenient for tourists.
the design of the hotel and staff
there are not alot of dining options inside the hotel, however there are a lot near by the hotel
Real Japan. Old traditional design of the room and very polite and kind staff. Public bath is available at the hotel. Interesting experience.
Our stay with our 8 month old baby was lovely. The most gracious, hospitable staff and beautiful rooms and facilities. The breakfast and kaiseki dinner we enjoyed were delicious. The public baths were amazing. No detail was overlooked and we were very sad to leave.
Service is exceptional. This is a traditional Japanese ryokan with luxury private bath as well as public onsen type bath.
Beautiful newer Ryokan with old world charm.Peaceful.Very polite helpful staff who bow you out the door each day .Communal baths are great.Good location in the heart of Gion district and good access to the sights of Eastern Kyoto.Expensive but probably worth it.
